Turnbull Strikes out 9 in Loss Tue, 22 Aug 2017 02:51:39 +0000 Wolves Lose 11-1 to Richmond (8-21-17) Turnbull Strikes out 9 in Loss WFXP good evening, let's talk sports. it's the final homestand of the year for the seawolves who find themselves dangerously close to missing the playoffs for a fourth straight season.tonight - the first of seven in a row at u-p-m-c park. park.a buck night crowd of more than 59-hundred in the house. seawolves starter spencer turnbull allowed the first three batters to reach. and then he doesn't exactly help his own cause. tries to get the force at the plate but short hops it past grayson greiner. 1-0 richmond.still nobody out. . .but turnbull. . .who was clearly shaken up . strikes out not one, not two, but the next three batters. the squirrels leave 'em loaded . ..and the howlers escape down just 1-0.bottom half - mike gerber stays hot. goes the opposite way and it just does get out. 11th of the year for gerber, baby. we're tied at 1but erie couldn't crack richmond starter - the harrisburg native tyler herb pitched a complete game. gets dawel lugo to ground into the inning-ending double play in the 4thgame still tied in the 6th. . .turnbull trying to get out of the inning with a runner on and two outs but k-c hobson takes him deep. a 2-run homer. that ends the night for turnbull who struck out nine in five and two thirds.but the seawolves bullpen was straight awful again - allowing eight runs over the final three and a third.erie falls 11-1. same two teams tomorrow at 7 oh five. and while the wolves struggles continue. . .maybe the biggest upset of the night came when the bubble boy went down for the first time all season long. danny buckets had never been knocked down during knockerball. . .but north east's doug slater ended that streak of 40 straight rounds to be fair - the bubble boy did win the first round tonight and the two battled to a draw in the deciding third round.but congrats to the national blazing wing-eating champ who also holds
