http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12512/7055180?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KTVX ABC 4 Salt Lake City >> goods sense brought to you by america first credit union. >> welcome back to good things utah, everybody, nicole is here from america first credit union. and we wanted to know your money questions. maybe you are think being it now that you are spending money on back to school clotheds and all of that shopping you are doing am we asked nicole would you answer those for us on the show and she said absolutely. so can i throw a couple of those at you. >> sure. >> here is the first one we got. what is the easiest way to track your spending. >> it is important that we track our spending. i think that the biggest thing is just you need to know what is going out and coming in. some of the ways you can do that through online banking and mobile apps we have a tool called money manager, a fantastic tool. this is a tool that will categorize your spending. so it goes in and you can have a pie chart that el its you are spending this amount of your budget on fast food, spending this amount of your budget on utilities and breaks that down for you so you can see a snap shot picture of where your money is going. and then if there are areas hey, maybe i shouldn't be spending so much money on fast food. >> red alert, target, you have to stay away. then you can actually see it because if not you just keep swiping and you have no idea where the money is going. >> st great because you can categorize and drop all of those things you are spending, will you know how much you are spending on gas for your vehicle, all those things and it just breaks it down and gives you a percentage of what part of your budget is going to that. >> knowledge is power. once you can see it you can change and switch around a few thins and adjust. what is that called. >> money manager inside our online banking application and also our mobile banking. >> that just makes it so easy. >> here is the next question. what are the best ways to protect yourself from fraud, this is up is a hot topic right now. >> it is. it is so important. i think one of the main things is be checking your accounts all the time. you know, that's when things kind of sneak up on us. we haven't checked our account. and have strong passwords when are you logging in make sure your password is strong, make sure are you changing it often. check your accounts again, the other things email wisely, make sure are you not giving out any kind of sensitive information in your emails that you are sending. and make sure you are when are you online shopping the sites are secure sites. and the one big thing and i know we talked about here before is card guard. we have a product called card guard. >> i don't know about this. >> so this is where you can go in and register through the online banking and mobile app and it tracks your spending. but what it does is you control and you can turn your cards on or off at any time. so if you see a charge on your account, pull your phone out and it is as easies alike when you put your phone into airplane mode, you hit that button and turns your card off. >> until you figure things out. >> and you can turn it right back on, if you remember oh yeah, that is a charge i made online, turn it right back on. if it is a situation i mean i had some fraud recently on my account. and i just turned them off, called the credit union, got new cards ordered. >> turned it back on but it will protect you, so if you see a fraudulent charge go through maybe that one went through but it will save you some additional charges. >> it all goes back to that checking your account. >> we think we're doing it but then like when was the last time i took a look. >> there is something special you are doing for back to school. >> we are. so you know, back to school, universities are starting 24 next week and it is a time that as students are going off to college, some of them for the first time, some of them managing their own money for the first time. >> for the very first time. >> we want to make sure they make wise financial choices so we are encouraging them to come to america first, open up a checking and savings with a debit card on their checking and download our online or mobile banking application. and we're going to give them a free pair of branded university socks, whatever they go to. we are going to be 59 a lot of the orientation weeks on campus. there are a few schools we won't be at but if you go to i a brand in your area or in that school's area, we have the offer going. they can take advantage. offer. >> go stop by at check it out. get more information. there is so much to worry about when are you starting college. you don't want to stress about getting too debt. >> and if you already are a member of the america first and starting back to school, come in, try one of our new product services card guard, download the mobile app if we don't have it direct deposit, try any two new services and we'll give that you service. >> if are you not a member, be a member. america first credit union, everybody, all their information on your screen, they are on facebook and that's the website, go to good for utah.com for all the information. so good to see you. >>
