Crown Camera celebrates 60th Anniversary downtown Thu, 24 Aug 2017 00:42:50 +0000 Crown Camera celebrates 60th Anniversary downtown Crown Camera celebrates 60th Anniversary downtown KRCR eclipse on monday. a redding camera store is celebrating 60 years of business downtown... krcr news channel 7's tiffany wong spoke with them about how they've managed to stay in business all these years... she joins us now.. allison, managers at crown camera tell me while many local businesses are struggling to stay open competing with online prices...they've been able to match those... and have the support of the community. store manager frank tona says they're keeping up with online camera sales by offering special services like free classes, vhs transfers to dvds.... they also sell at the same price, because they belong to a large buying group that allows the local shop to buy and sell the same as larger businesses or online... and say they offer the largest selection between sacramento and portland. they're celebrating 60 years by encouraging people to take pictures for their "love where you live" campaign. "we're proud of being part of redding, and been here for 60 years in downtown, and we have downtown businesses that are helping us to celebrate being here for 60 years." every day for 60 days they will be doing something special. tona adds they haven't had break-ins or crime at their location on market street because they are brightly lit and next to restaurants.. and they've actually seen their business improving.. "there's a lot of young people who are shooting film because they've got dad's camera or grandpa's camera and they just want to try it and they fall in love with it. so our film processing is actually increasing, it's going up." they also take part in community events by taking pictures during events like relay for life, pancake breakfast and parades.. at the end of their 60 day celebration, they will give away a camera. tiffany
