we have some athletic stars in our studio, one that is just 10 years old, the other six read they are doing great things in the sports world paving the way for the future for future gymnasts and future tennis players. we will talk with them and hear about their account was meant and how you can support them there labor day is right around the corner. we will tell you what is in store to perfect your labor day party along with some great grilling ideas. >> first, it is a special day for us because our next guest is only 10 years old at this collierville young man is among an elite group of 10 to win an essay contest including a day in new york city, a part of arthur ashe's kids today, plus a day at the home of the u.s. open. welcome this morning dolphin coke and tennis player team: dennis lane. good morning. may i start with you because this is a really big deal. you just got back, right? you went august 26. i was a? >> it was fun. >>amy: to me about it. >> we got there and did some site singing around the work and we went to see charlie and the chocolate factory. saturday we went to arthur ashe's kids day. i like to the environment and being able to play tennis and watching the pros. >>amy: that is so cool. i want you to take a look at the screen because this was the essay question that dawson one and this is a question he was given. it is very interesting because he is a tennis player but, in fact, take a look at this. he is a tennis player, but it asks about qualities on the court and off the court. you had to do a lot of thinking for that, right: >> i did. it was fun. >> of a tennis program we stress academics and life skills. the question said, you know, what is most important in life. is it tennis or education or life? he said life skills. i will never forget the first day they announced the contest to a group of campers. as soon as camp was over and i announced the contest to the kids, he immediately left the courts and went into the tennis center building and started working on his essay. as soon as we announce the contest, he showed a lot of initiative. it was really something. >>amy: it had to be 350 words, right: >> 350 words. i can remember a couple of kids who did the essay and wait they found out dawson one and they didn't, it is a competition for kids across the country. they said dawson loves tennis so much that he really deserved sportsmanship from other kids and our program. >>amy: right. >> it came through in the essay. >>amy: i want to brag on dawson. he was selected out of more than 2600 entries. what does this say about you? i mean, i think we are going to see the next big things come out of your. >> i am surprised and honored to be chosen one of 10 2600 applicants. >>amy: and this speaks volumes of your program. >> absolutely. in our history, we have had eight winners. we had another one of our instructors when. she got a state award. we also won the national award so we had to winners this year. our program is about tennis and education, and we want to student athletes to come to our program in all corners of our community. >>amy: wow! that is so awesome. i know tennis memphis would love to hear from you. they are doing great things in and around our community and are producing fabulous tennis players on the court and off the court. i tell you what, they are multi talented you can get involved with the great tennis unity at tennis memphis and you can follow [email protected] on.com. that is the united states tennis foundation. >> this is so exciting. our next guest is six years old but always there already doing great things. she was training with an elite group of gymnast young lady traveling with her is her trainer, a star herself for welcome brittany taylor and naomi lee. good morning. how are you? >> good. >>amy: this is so awesome. >> naomi just finished her season this year and she qualified for regionals. she actually won the originals in her level out of 96 gymnasts. originals consist of eight states in our sport. this summer she started a program called tots which is talent opportunity program where the girls training in flexibility, conditioning and ages eight and above. they do a limited amount of skills. they had a fast rope climb, and she was able to do leg presses. they picked 50 girls out of the country that become part of the diamond team. >>amy: what do you think about this? >> i am really excited. >>amy: look at those muscles. look at those muscles, girl. we have some video that is unbelievable to see this little girl in action. in fact, that is naomi, right:?custom? that is made. >>amy: yes, that is brittany. i want to brag on brittany because she is a start within herself. she has done great things. she got to the national >> the national competition when i was a freshman in college. that is a video from lsu. we were super six and replaced top five that year, my senior year, and the nation and now number two in the nation. >>amy: from one star to another. there is naomi. sorry, sorry, sorry. look at this. let me tell you, if you have never tried this, i have for a nano second because i only made it an inch off the ground. it is so hard. >> it is extremely hard. >>amy: talk about upper body strength. girl, look at you. >> she is a lot better than me actually when i was at age. >>amy: have using talent like that before at such a young age? >> you see talent all the time but naomi has the discipline and is the only gymnast that stays after practice and cleans up after class. she has a discipline about her training. she is very respectful and she says yes, ma'am and no, ma'am. we have been to missouri and girls had walked up to her and said, that is naomi. little naomi lee, what do you want to do when you grow up. >> i want to be a star when i grow up. >>amy: you can help her be a star, and you can also help miss retin-a as she works to get her own studio. all of this is made possible through the tops program and tailored gymnastics training program. >> yes, ma'am. i am building a facility offers shall be drive. we are now in south haven, mississippi. >>amy: there is the go fund me page. one has been set up for naomi. >> they can sponsor here. if people want to help with her training. they have to pay for the coaching and monthly tuition and the competitions. it is very expensive. if anybody wants to help donate to her to help her in her journey, we would greatly appreciate it. >>amy: isn't it wonderful that you, brittany, started training at three competing at six. she started training at three and competing at six. >> exactly. >>amy: you must be in heaven, right? >> i have been through a lot of stuff she is going through so it is easier for me to explain to her what she needs to do. >>amy: i know you had to watch gabby douglas and we were so impressed. what is one of her favorite things to do in gymnastics? >> i love to do bars, beam and floor. i love everything. >>amy: we just love you, little naomi. little naomi, i see you in her. it is a beautiful thing. thank you so much for joining us. >> thank you, amy. >>amy: you can help her in her journey and this is very important for her. will you promise you will come back and see yes?
