http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12503/7076655?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Wed, 06 Sep 2017 15:40:05 +0000 Solaroo Energy Solaroo Energy http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12503/7076655?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KTVX ABC 4 Salt Lake City >> if you have been following solar power or if you have solar power you know it's been a bit of a whirlwind lately with some of the things that have been going on. but joining us right now to break it all down for us is cash carter thank you for coming in today. >> thank you so much, glad to be here. >> i understand you have some good news to share with us. but i want to make sure everybody has context. because it sounds like sometime last year kind of gave solar a run for its money a little bit. >> right, yeah, rocky mountain power put in for a rate change at the end of last year that would have changed things pretty significantly and negatively for solar customers going forward. >> so it was just raising them up, essentially. >> not necessarily it was more of a full rate change where it would all be done completely different than how it is done currently. >> but the industry as a whole kind of band together because they didn't want this to happen, correct? >> correct. how did that go, is that a good thing? >> yeah, we fought it for quite some time and we had a lot of the solar companies come together. and we just recently came to a settlement. that's good. it is a lot better than the initial rate. >> great news. so what was the settlement and what was established as part of all of this? >> well, the settlement was reached between rocky mountain power and the solar industry as a whole, among other things mainly over the net metering program which is the program that gov-- governs rocky mountain's power and. >> and what does the settle am mean, what does it mean for customers. >> it means a few things. so one being for most customers that do go solar and choose to make that choice before november 15th they locked into the current rates and regulations with the net metering program, for the next 18 years which is awesome. i haven't seen anything like that in quite some time. >> you are saying if people decide they want to go solar and sign up and get it done before november, then they will never have to worry about the rates changing. >> they won't have to for roughly 18 years. >> that is a long time. >> a super long time. >> probably long enough to make it worth the investment, correct? >> yes. >> very cool. so how does solar work? if people are interested that aren't quite sure if they wanted to go for it, could they do a consultation? >> absolutely. you can actually call in or go to our [email protected] energy.com, click the quick quote button and one of our representatives will get in touch with you and schedule a consultation. and from there they could fill out their net metering application which will be submitted to rocky mountain power and lock them in for the next 15 years. >> is it a huge investment that is going to break the bank? i know that is a concern for a lot of people. >> not really. i mean it varies on different sizes depending on your usage in your home but with the financing available, for us we have some in house financing that is really, really good, stuff that wouldn't even have to make a payment for the first year and a half and then when are you paying it is still cheaper than your current situation. >> is it really sphr? >> so really it is a financial no brainer. if you looked into solar, if you thought about solar before, highly recommend getting in before november 15th. >> so my inlaws did solar and they signed up for it, got the panels on their home and everything last year and thefer never looked back. saving so much money every month on their bill, they have so happy about it. >> perfect. >> sounds like that is kind of the case with a lot of these people. thank you for coming in and making a complex topic a little more easy to understand. we really appreciate it. >> for sure, thank you. >> all right, everybody. we have so much more still coming up on good things utah an bri, have you done solar, are you planning on making that switch
