Special Olympics athletes compete in Granger golf tournament

By Clip Syndicate
It was a beautiful, but warm morning for a little golf at Jester Park in Granger. More than 100 people participated in the unified golf tournament for Special Olympics.  Every Special Olympic athlete buddied up with a partner for the tournament and they'd switch off on shots.  The tradition has been taking place at Jester Park for more than two decades now. Organizers say the great thing about the course, is that it levels the playing field for all of the athletes.   "A lot of our golfers maybe can't hit the ball that far, and so when we can get  onto a par 3 course like Jester has here, it's very very well maintained and it's a lot of fun to play. And it's a really nice spot for us to host this tournament.", says Bruce Wilson, the Senior Director of Programming for Special Olympics Iowa."
