Both of those teams were in the hot seat today here in the Music City for SEC Basketball Media Day. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12450/7136630?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WZDX c-a-a college basketball season is right around the corner and today we got an early preview of this year's versions of auburn and alabama... hannah oliveto has more from nashville. controversy surrounds the college basketball world as the fbi continues to investigate serious claims against several programs including auburn and alabama. both of those teams were in the hot seat today here in the music city. now auburn is facing the most serious claims with assistant coach chuck person already facing 6 federal charges including bribery fraud and conspiracy. "under normal circumstances if we weren't a part of this on going investigation you would get a lot of comments from me about it. that's just who i've always have been. i think because we got something that's on going right now i just can't offer my thoughts or opinions." pearl added that he's not allowed to talk to his players about the investigation and his team is trying not to worry about it. "we can't control it so we're focusing on the things we can control and that's going to practice being ready to go and just trying to get better and trying to get ready for the season."the tigers are picked to finish 9th in the sec pre season media poll. they finished 11th last season but they return seven of the top nine scorers from last year's team."we have to be competitive first before you can actually win. last year we won 18 games. it was the second winning season in 14 years at auburn and so we feel like we're in a different position now than we've been." alabama is also caught up in the fbi's investigation with associate athletic director kobie baker stepping down last month. now head coach avery johnson believes the extent of the programs wrong doings begin and end with baker and he didn't have much to say on the issue. but he doesn't seem too worried about the investigation. "the only thing that i'm concerned about is our team being able to pass the ball to each other, that's it just pass the ball to each other if we do that and we don't throw interceptions to the other team and they go down and lay the ball up we're going to be ok."alabama is picked to finished 4th in the preseason media poll. the crimson tide reached the nit for the second straight time under johnson last season and the program is facing even higher expectations this year. we're trying to continue to go up in terms of success of our team. we won 18 games 19 games last year and we're trying to figure out what's next for alabama basketball." the federal investigation is far from over and this could just be the start, we will have to wait and see what the fallout could be for alabama and auburn and if any other sec teams get caught up in it. for now from nashville hannah oliveto wzdx sports. thanks hannah.. kentucky is the favorite to win the s-e-c this year... following by florida and texas a&m.. alabama earned a preseason ranking of 4th... auburn
