((scott)) byron and dixon were both trying to finish up undefeated. we begin with byron. the tigers took their 8-0 record to 6-2 winnebago. 1. byron's first possession....it's nolan bieskis with a big hole...no one's been able to stop him all year. he checks over his shoulder and he knows it's going to be six. that's a 75 yard touchdown. 2. bago looks to strike right back. bryce bryden with the money ball...he's got his playmaker kenzell jones down there...he's got it, but he's out of bounds. 3. byron takes over again...some great blocking up front on this handoff to kein claunch. the junior rumbles 21 yards. the tigers went up 14-0. 4. bryden looking to pass....it was that kind of night for him. 5. byron's ball again...bielskis breaking through...forget it. a 22 yard touchdown. it was 21-0 in the first quarter. bieskis ran for 116 yards and two scores. byron wins big 50-6 ((josh)) dixon needed a ninth win to tie byron. the dukes were at north boone friday. 1. in the first, dixon ball. noah wilcox trying to find an open receiver and fires it down field to josh dallas for the first. 2.north boone now....and its britton morris taking the shot gun snap and hitting cooper baden for a north boone first down. 3. very next play... it's morris on the keeper and he slips through the crowd. morris sprints into the endzone for a touchdown. morris had a big night. 4. then its dixon on offense...wilcox again trying to find an open man.... but instead he's intercepted by boone's korey yarc. not what wilcox was looking for on that play. 5. then it's the most dynamic play in the big northern britton morris. he runs it up the middle and takes it to the house. morris finished with 541 yards of total offense and seven total touchdowns. north boone hands dixon their first loss of the season 48-47. that means byron is the outright big northern conference champion. ((scott)) rockford christian was out to clinch it's first playoff birth since 2010. the royal lions needed that magical fifth win over 1-7 oregon. 1. rockford christian qb noah kellerman 31 yd td run. 7-0 royal lions. 2. oregon rb chase prehn takes the toss. runs 2 yds for td. tied 7-7. 3. rockford christian rb connor cunningham runs 66 yds for td. royal lions up 14-7. 4. rockford christian's kellerman with another designed run. 45 yd td run. kellerman ran for 208 yards and two scores. royal lions up 21-7 5. less than 30 seconds remaining in 1st quarter. kellerman connects on 22 yd td pass to jared frederick. royal lions up 28-7. the royal lions win 49-13. they're headed to the playoffs for the first time since 2010. ((scott)) in other big northern action... genoa kingston took care of mendota 41 to 7. stillman valley beat lutheran 36-25. and woodstock north took out rock falls 20 to 14. ((scott)) at that lutheran- stillman valley game lutheran middle linebacker christian bonacquisti, number 56, added to his remarkble tackle total. bonacquisti had 41 tackles against the cardinals.that's right 41 tackles. we believe that's a national record. he came into this game with 150 tackles on the season. that ranked him first in the state and in the top five in the nation. so now he has 191 tackles. he is remarkable. and folks he's only a junior. congratulations to christian bonacquisiti on a great season. d ((josh)) we have one more stop..that's rochelle where the hubs were out to lock up a playoff spot against rival sycamore. ((scott)) now here's our sports connection flashback. (music plays) (scott) it was october 24, 2008. the harlem huskies were hosting the biggest football game in school history. the huskies were 8-0 and were about to battle 8-0 boylan on the final week of the regular season to determine the nic-10 championship. the huskies stuck first when keenan kellett connected with tyler cox on a touchdown pass. kellett later ran for a touchdown for a 14-0 lead. but boylan stormed back scoring 40 unanswered points. the titans rushed for 454 yards on a rainy, muddy night. will sahlstrom rumbled for three touchdowns harlem's dream season ended with a 40-14 loss. the titans were nic-10 champions for the third straight year.
