((morgan)) mark good evening, dozens of kids and adults laced-up their boxing gloves tonight in bloomsburg. while the event was about the competition, the mission behind the boxing goes much deeper than that. ((morgan))these boxers worked up a sweat as they fought in what's billed as the first ever holiday brawl. rocky boxing club of berwick held the event at the bloombsburg fairgrounds. "the excitement that it brings to the you can see they're excited."the boxing club named rocky is an acronym standing for "rescue our community kids yesterday". the goal -- to keep kids off the streets and give them purpose. victoria talanca -- co owner/rocky boxing club"i think this area needed something like this for a long time. these kids need something to do."16 bouts of boxing featuring 32 boxers meant plenty of punches and intense jabs.timothy "terrible tim" witherspoon, former two- time world heavyweight champ "boxing is not on the down but it's up and down and if i have a chance to attend any boxing match i can because there's young kids that need education."former two-time world heavyweight boxing champ timothy witherspoon is a former sparring partner of muhammed ali. he sees the good that getting kids into boxing can do."bring them into the gym teach them how to box teach them discipline. i think it's a very very great tool to get kids going in the right direction.""get them off the streets get them in the gym get them healthy.""it's so fun like i don't know how to explain it."faith mendez of reading is only 14-years-old. she's already won 21 belts."it means a lot because i worked hard for it."at the end of the day.. these boxers say they're just happy to advance in the sport that they've grown to love."it's good because not everybody could do it.""now these young kids today are the future of boxing." ((morgan)) more than 400 tickets were sold for the holiday brawl and organizers say with the success of the night... they're hoping this will become an annual event. in the control center, morgan parrish eyewitness news. ((mark)) rocky boxing club has only been open for a year. all of the money raised during the holiday brawl will go toward expanding the club. ((mark))
