Harrison Central baseball senior signs with MGCCC

By Clip Syndicate
One Harrison Central senior signed today with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to continue his baseball career. Brett Hughes is a pitcher for the Red Rebels. Since he was a boy, he dreamed of playing at the Perkinston campus as a Bulldog. Today, he celebrated with his coaches, family, and friends. Brett tells News 25 it was a great day to celebrate with his family. “It’s outstanding. I’ve always wanted to go there since I was small enough to spell Perk, pretty much, and just hearing from them, it was awesome.” Harrison Central Head Baseball Coach Neil Frederic said, “Brett’s one of the guys that’s bought in from day one and there’s nothing like it. Hair stands up on my arms just thinking about these kids getting that opportunity to play a game they love further than the game of high school.” Hughes had one other offer from East Mississippi Community College. He says he plans to do two years at MGCCC and then hopefully go to Mississippi State.
