3 3 you're watching local33 news at 10:00, with lauren mccoy, mark stitz with your forecast, and matt roberts with sports. a church in south carolina says vandals have targeted their historic house of worship for years... but they were shocked to find symbols spray painted on the walls. mike desumma reports. "almost everything in this church came from the grounds here." the brick building that's home to salem black river presbyterian church has stood in sumter county since the 1840s.church elder george mcfaddin says many parts of it --- are all original."you don't have the craftsmen today that were here when this church was built." mcfaddin says that's why it's deeply discouraging to him --- to find sites like he saw just weeks ago. "i circled around the church to the right and found them on the side door. there were 'heil hitler' writings in several places. i immediately knew it was satanic." they were graffiti markings written out on the main church building and it's surrounding property.one disturbing message said 'rot in hell.'"certainly un inappropriate to have markings on the doors and the walls." members of the church say this problem is all too common.acts of vandalism at salem black river have been going on for the last decade. nat: walking --- leaves crunch..hitting not only the church but it's century old cemetery right behind it. "these grounds are open during the day time and our church is open twice a month for anybody that want to come and worship with us...there's no reason to come here at night." a spokesman for the 20th fighter wing says the air force does not condone acts of vandalism... and that such behavior does not represent the airmen of shaw air force base. mark's here with a look at your full forecast! mark how's it looking???
