Fri, 15 Dec 2017 16:39:18 +0000Star Wars the Last JediStar Wars the Last Jedi.http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12463/7212198?cpt=8&wpid=2637WCIA>>heather: the latest s saga and the latest from woody allen hit area screens this week. >>matt: chuck koplinski has seen two movies that have gotten a lot of attention. one because it's star wars and the other because it's woody allen. let's start with star wars. this is number eight? >> it is number eight. there's been nine films but number eight in the series of luke skywalker. this movie starts off with a huge space battle which hopefully you will hear in a second. all sorts of turmoil is going on. receive break, she has tracked down luke skywalker was by himself on a remote island. she is trying to get him to come back and teach himthe ways the force. he is very reluctant and doesn't want to do this. while that is going on, the first order as it's referred to is apple the rebels. of course the rebels led by general - - they are having their own bit of problems. then you have - - as the han solo guy going into reckless adventures. i was told by the studio not to give away too much of the plot so i'm not going to. but let me tell you this, the first film, when the force awakens came out two years ago. many people complained that the force awakens was a remake of the first star wars film. if you want to know what's going to happen in this, you want to check out the empire similarities and you can see where this is going. i've been reading reviews and they talk about the big surprises and revelations. i can't remember one that shocked me at all. i'm really getting tired of the rebels. and every one of these films, the rebels have to turn something off or on. a tractor beam, and antenna, with the turn the antenna on. i'm really tired of that. they had to turn on and off three different things. longest of the star wars films and it feels like it. there are some things that are very good. the last half hour, i loved. >>matt: do they have to do all this back story? ultimately, they are trying to set up things for the future, right? >> this is the first time it started to feel stale for me. but thinking back, all of these movies are the same. the problem i had with disney buying these, you had a movie every three years. now we will get one every year. it's going to have to not have that specialfeel to it. they are no longer special. that's part of the problem with these films . >>matt: you can make the same argument with all the x-men films. the pace in which they are churning out these movies. >> i think that is with any sort of modern franchise. you are pleasing the stockholders because you have to make these movies to make them money. of course the art suffers when you do that . >>matt: it looks beautiful. >> if you have $300 million at your disposal, you have to be pretty - - not to put together a beautiful movie. you have to know what's going on to have an inkling of what's going on here. i am very much in the minority. maybe i'm an old man and have seen too many things. but i was like
