"this year went 17 and oh, we went pefect."' the new yorker lions in the german bowl...the american equivalent to the super bowl... 14-13 pastorino played a big role in the success. back... had 59 tackles... 3 interceptions....and 1 sack this championship... he was part of quite the celebration in markplaats where the church is and the mayor's office, the mayor's building is right there, then everybody gets to get announced and you walk out on the mayor's balcony holding the -nats- "4-five thousand people, go out for about 10 seconds holding the trophy up, it was all worth it." so how did this opportunity come about? he can thank some college connections from willamette university in oregon for that. "couple guys at willamette during my time there had gone overseas and played and just loved it and they're like this is something you have to do. was lucky enough to have a great senior and used some willamette connections that were across in europe and ended up in germany." pastorino has been there for 4 years... and schwabisch hall gives him a good amount of stipend every month. paid like an nfl or nba player, but the setup is we'll cover all your expenses, so our apartment is covered, car, food, gym health insurance and then you'll get paid on top, and so everything you really make is spending money." and that's helped him and his girlfriend of three years melanie speedy spent a good amount of time seeing the world "we've done trips where we've drove through six countries in a day, france, portugal and italy and switzerland, it'sjust one of those things where i wouldn't trade it right now." and that makes a lot of sense. getting paid to play in germany.... winning championships...livin g with his girlfriend...enjoyin g the culture and seeing the world? quite the success story for this 26 year old willows honker who's now a proudschwabisch hall unicorn. "i mean it's great. it's a great time." ### thanks lee alan alan
