http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12464/7289253?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Sat, 10 Mar 2018 01:21:47 +0000 View on Film - Wrinkle in Time Jason Valentine reviews a Wrinkle in Time http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12464/7289253?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KVEW the book a wrinkle in time was published in the early 60's, and has become a classic from young readers. today we get the movie adaption starring oprah....... kapp-kvew's jason valentine returns with a look at the movie, in this week's view on film 3 3 thanks galen and tori......book adaptions are a hard thing to do in hollywood...for every harry potter that got it perfect, there are movies that seriously miss the mark. this week, we have the young reader classic, a wrinkle in time. storm reid stars as a young girl, whose father was lost 4 years ago trying to find the mysteries of the universe.......she gets recruited to find him.....but she must battle the darkness to save her father....and all of mankind.let's start with the good stuff....storm reid is very good as a young girl trying to find herself during her adventure....and oprah is fun as an obi wan kenobi type figure.......and the film has great things to say about believing in yourself......but unfortunatly, this is a sterile, lifeless movie. there is a noticeble lack of humor in the film....and it meanders its way through, until a very sloppy finale. the book deals with very metaphysical element, and the filmmakers here just were unable to translate them onto the screen. the film also gets into some horror elements near the end....and it falls flat on its face. i really feel there are great intentions here, but the film just is unable to achieve them. i think the young ones will get bored at the start....and will be confused later. there really is no way to iron out the problems of the well intentioned wrinkle in time. thats
