http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12451/7388956?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Wed, 18 Jul 2018 23:23:14 +0000 Alabama Defense from SEC Media Days Jesse Merrick and MaryLee Melendez reporting. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12451/7388956?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WAAY ABC Huntsville, AL years...alabama enters the 2018 media days with a much different tune than last year... the talk then was about using the last second loss to clemson in 2016 as motiviation...now it's once again about ignoring the outside noise and trusting the process to win back-to-back titles for the first time since 2011-2012... in order to do that...much like we've seen year after year in tuscaloosa...they're going to have to reload on defense... and at the heart of that is the linebacking core which has been alabama's strength over the years...with the departure of sean dion hamilton to the nfl...coach saban told us todaythat mack wilson will be the next lynchpin of their defensive core... that guy flew around the field all last year so i personally can't wait to see how he fares as a full time starter...but what about the guys in front of them?...the defensive line... they bring back another stacked group that ranked 20-th in the country in sacks last year...and they've made it clear they want to improve upon that number and look more like the 2016 group that ranked 3-rd in the country with 53 sacks... and a guy coach saban says that will be key to that is second year juco transfer isaiah buggs... saban also mentioned we'll see a lot of young guys this year in the secondary after all six of the players from their dime package are gone to the nfl... definitely something we'll be watching as the team lays the foundation for 2018...so that's the defense...comin' up tonight at ten...we're talkin' offense and everything that comes with it... for marylee melendez...i'm jesse merrick...reporti ng in atlanta...guys back to you...
